    Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Kathmandu to Lhasa | Flying Over the Roof of the World
Your adventure begins before you even land. The flight from Kathmandu to Lhasa offers one of the most spectacular aerial views on earth—if the weather is clear, you’ll catch a glimpse of Mt. Everest from above. Arriving in Lhasa (3,650m), the thin air will instantly remind you where you are. We’ll transfer you to your hotel, where the rest of the day is yours to rest, hydrate, and slowly acclimate to the altitude.

Day 2: Lhasa | The Heart of Tibetan Culture
Today is all about soaking in Lhasa’s spiritual energy. We’ll visit the iconic Potala Palace, the winter residence of the Dalai Lama that dominates the city’s skyline. Afterward, we’ll head to the sacred Jokhang Temple, the spiritual heart of Tibet. Step outside into the bustling Barkhor Market, where you can join local pilgrims walking their daily kora (prayer circuit) amidst stalls selling incense, prayer wheels, and turquoise jewelry.

Day 3: Lhasa | Monastic Debates & Historic Gardens
We dive deeper into Tibetan Buddhism today. First, we visit Drepung Monastery, once the largest monastery in the world. In the afternoon, we head to Sera Monastery to witness the famous monastic debates—watch the monks passionately debate Buddhist philosophy using expressive hand claps and gestures in the courtyard. We’ll finish the day with a peaceful stroll through Norbulingka Palace, the traditional summer residence of the Dalai Lamas.

Day 4: Lhasa to Gyantse | Turquoise Lakes & High Passes
Leave Lhasa behind as we hit the road toward Gyantse. The drive itself is an highlight, winding through the spectacular Kamba La Pass (4,794m), which offers jaw-dropping views of Yamrok Lake—a stunning, fan-shaped body of turquoise water. We’ll also pass the massive Karo La Glacier before arriving in the historic town of Gyantse to visit the unique, multi-tiered Palcho Monastery (Kumbum).

Day 5: Gyantse to Shigatse | Short Drive to Tibet’s Second City
After a hearty breakfast, we take a short, scenic drive through rich agricultural valleys to Shigatse, Tibet’s second-largest city. Here, we will explore the massive Tashilhunpo Monastery, founded in 1447 by the First Dalai Lama. It is the traditional seat of the Panchen Lama and houses a breathtaking, 26-meter-high gilded statue of the Future Buddha.

Day 6: Shigatse to Rongbuk | Standing Before the King of Mountains
Today is the big day. We drive across high-altitude passes, stopping at the Gawu La Pass for a panoramic view of four of the world’s highest peaks. From there, we descend into the rugged valley leading to Rongbuk Monastery, the highest monastery in the world. Standing here, looking up at the sheer north face of Mt. Everest, is a humbling, once-in-a-lifetime experience. We’ll spend the night nearby, watching the sunset over the roof of the world.

Day 7: Rongbuk to Kerung | From High Desert to Lush Gorges
Wake up early to catch the first rays of sunlight hitting Everest. After breakfast, we say goodbye to the high Tibetan plateau and begin a dramatic descent. As we drive toward the border town of Kerung (2,300m), you will watch the barren, wind-swept desert landscape transform into lush green hills and cascading waterfalls.

Day 8: Kerung to Kathmandu | Crossing Back into Nepal
We wrap up our epic overland loop today. After clearing customs at the border, we cross back into Nepal. The final leg of the journey takes us through the winding, rugged mountain roads of the Langtang region, dropping you right back into the vibrant, chaotic charm of Kathmandu where your tour concludes.
