Overview

The Everest Base Camp Trek is one of the most famous trekking journeys in the world. It takes you to the base of Mount Everest (8,848 meters / 29,028 feet), the tallest mountain on Earth. Along the way, you’ll enjoy stunning views of the Himalayas, including peaks like Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, and many others.
This trekking route lies in the Khumbu region of Nepal, inside Sagarmatha National Park. The adventure begins in Lukla, a small mountain town. From there, the trail leads through traditional Sherpa villages, where you can explore Buddhist culture, visit monasteries, and meet the warm and welcoming Sherpa people.
During the trek, you’ll walk through forests filled with rhododendron and pine trees, cross suspension bridges, and hike across rocky paths, glacial moraines, and breathtaking landscapes.
The main goal is to reach Everest Base Camp, located at 5,363 meters (17,595 feet). While climbing Everest requires special permits and training, reaching the base camp is a proud achievement. From there, you’ll see the Khumbu Glacier and enjoy wide views of the surrounding mountains.
Throughout the 12-day journey, you’ll hear birds singing in the forest and rivers flowing down the hills. You’ll pass through colorful forests and may spot wildlife like bears, snow leopards, foxes, and wolves. The mix of big hills, giant rocks, and rich nature makes this trek a truly unforgettable experience.

Tour Itinerary

Day 1 :

Arrival in Kathmandu 1350m.

Arrive at Tribhuwan International Airport, Kathmandu, you are welcomed by the Himalayan Mountain Bike team and then you will be transferred to your hotel and Trekking Brifing.

Day 2 :

Kathmandu Sightseeing

Explore Kathmandu’s cultural heritage with a guided tour of UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including Swayambhunath Stupa, Pashupatinath Temple, and Boudhanath Stupa.

Prepare for your trek, ensuring all necessary permits and gear are in order

Day 3 :

Flight to Lukla and Trek to Phakding (2,652m/8,700ft)

Take an early morning flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, enjoying breathtaking views of the Himalayas during the 30-minute journey.
Begin your trek from Lukla to Phakding, a scenic village nestled along the Dudh Koshi River.
Trekking Time: Approximately 3-4 hours

Day 4 :

Trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3,440m/11,280ft)

Continue your ascent to Namche Bazaar, the bustling market town and gateway to the Everest region.
Cross the iconic Hillary Suspension Bridge and ascend gradually through lush forests, enjoying glimpses of Everest and neighboring peaks.
Trekking Time: Approximately 5-6 hours

Day 5 :

Acclimatization Day in Namche Bazaar

Spend a rest day in Namche Bazaar to acclimatize to the altitude.
Explore the town’s narrow streets, visit local shops and markets, or hike to the Everest View Hotel for panoramic vistas of Everest, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam.
Optional side trips to Khumjung and Khunde villages or the Everest Sherpa Museum.

Day 6 :

Trek from Namche Bazaar to Tengboche (3,860m/12,660ft)

Resume your trek with a scenic hike to Tengboche, home to the famous Tengboche Monastery, one of the largest monasteries in the Everest region.
Enjoy stunning views of Everest, Lhotse, and Nuptse along the way.
Attend a prayer ceremony at the monastery and soak in the peaceful atmosphere.
Trekking Time: Approximately 5-6 hours

Day 7 :

Trek from Tengboche to Dingboche (4,410m/14,470ft)

Trek through rhododendron forests and alpine meadows, gradually ascending to Dingboche.
Marvel at the towering peaks that surround you, including Ama Dablam and Island Peak.
Trekking Time: Approximately 5-6 hours

Day 8 :

Acclimatization Day in Dingboche

Take another rest day in Dingboche to acclimatize to the altitude.
Enjoy short hikes to nearby viewpoints or relax and soak in the serene mountain atmosphere.

Optional side trips to Chhukung or Nagarjun Hill for panoramic views

Day 9 :

Trek from Dingboche to Lobuche (4,910m/16,108ft)

Continue your ascent towards Everest Base Camp, trekking to the remote village of Lobuche.
Traverse the Khumbu Glacier and pass memorials to climbers who lost their lives on Everest.
Trekking Time: Approximately 5-6 hours

Day 10 :

Trek from Lobuche to Everest Base Camp (5,364m/17,598ft) and back to Gorak Shep (5,164m/16,942ft)

The highlight of your trek: reach Everest Base Camp, the staging point for climbers attempting to summit Everest.
Trek across the rocky moraine of the Khumbu Glacier, soaking in panoramic views of the surrounding peaks.
Spend some time exploring Base Camp and taking photos before retracing your steps back to Gorak Shep.
Trekking Time: Approximately 7-8 hours

Day 11 :

Hike to Kala Patthar (5,545m/18,192ft) and Trek to Pheriche (4,371m/14,340ft)

Wake up early to hike to Kala Patthar, a renowned viewpoint offering stunning sunrise views of Everest, Lhotse, and Nuptse.
Descend to Gorak Shep for breakfast before continuing your trek back down to Pheriche.
Trekking Time: Approximately 7-8 hours

Day 12 :

Trek from Pheriche to Namche Bazaar

Descend through alpine terrain and rhododendron forests, passing through villages and yak pastures along the way.
Arrive back in Namche Bazaar, where you can celebrate the completion of your trek with a well-deserved meal and rest.

Day 13 :

Trek from Namche Bazaar to Lukla

Descend from Namche Bazaar to Lukla, retracing your steps through forests and across suspension bridges.
Spend your last evening in the Everest region relaxing and reminiscing about your adventure.
Trekking Time: Approximately 6-7 hours

Day 14 :

Fly from Lukla to Kathmandu

Take an early morning flight from Lukla back to Kathmandu, enjoying a final glimpse of the Himalayas from the air.
Transfer to your hotel in Kathmandu and spend the rest of the day at leisure.
Reflect on your incredible journey and cherish the memories of your Everest Base Camp trek.

Final departure day to your home or next destination

Costs

The Cost Includes

•Airport pick-up and drop-off service, by private vehicles.
•Three nights’ hotel accommodation in Kathmandu (two stars) with BB plan
•Kathmandu valley sightseeing (Bhaktapur Durbar Squire, Pasupatinath Temple and Bouddhanath Stupa experience tour guide and private vehicle
•Transportation includes flight fares for Kathmandu-Lukla-Kathmandu Guest and Guide.
•Three meals per day during the trek (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) are provided, along with one cup of tea or coffee per meal. You can choose from the menu, but only one item per meal is allowed.
•Seasonal fresh fruits will be provided every night after dinner
•Accommodation will be in tea houses during the trek, with basic twin-sharing rooms
•An experience English Speaking trained, Government license Holder Guide
•All trekking permits, including Sagarmatha National Park entrance fees and Khumbu Pasanglyamu Rural Municipility entrance fees
•All applicable taxes as per government rules and regulations
•First Aid medical kit, Oxy-meter to check pulse, heart rate and oxygen saturation at higher altitude (Very useful to check Altitude Mountain Sickness (AMS) symptoms)
•Guide salary, food, accommodation and insurance during the trek
•Use of down Jacket, sleeping bag and walking Poles (if you don’t have your own, to be return after the trip is completed). Using these 3 items you pay $10 USD each Item.
•If you need a duffel bag to pack your trekking gear, we provide one free of cost. However, it must be returned after the trip is completed.

The Cost Excludes

•Nepal entry visa fee $50 USD for 30 days visa on arrival.
•Lunch and dinner in Kathmandu
•Extra night hotel accommodation in Kathmandu and other than itinerary as well as extra trekking days
•Travel insurance and Mountain rescue service (covers emergency Rescue and Evacuation)
•Personal nature expenses (phone, laundry, water, bar drinks, battery recharge, donations, shopping, extra porters, hot shower etc.)
•Entrance fees for Kathmandu Valley sightseeing that cost $30, as well as monasteries and monuments during the trek
•Tips to Trekking staff (Tips is expected)
•Any other expenses that aren’t mentioned in the section above
Note:Occasionally, flights to or from Lukla may be delayed or canceled due to bad weather, which could affect the completion of your trek on time. In such cases, a helicopter flight can be arranged as an alternative. The cost for a shared helicopter flight is $500 per person one way (either Kathmandu to Lukla or Lukla to Kathmandu).

How fit do I need to be to do this trek?

A good base fitness level is recommended. You should be comfortable with moderate hiking distances and some steeper sections. Regularly going for hikes or participating in cardio activities beforehand will help prepare you for the Everest Base camp trek.

Do I need travel insurance?

Travel insurance is highly recommended. It’s important to protect yourself against unforeseen circumstances like trip medical emergencies and Helicopter.

What kind of clothing should I pack?

Layers are key! Pack comfortable hiking clothes, a warm jacket, waterproof gear, and good hiking shoes. You can find a detailed packing list in our pre-departure information email.
