Mountain Biking from Leh to Manali
The epic journey from Ladakh to Manali is one of the ultimate trips for the experienced mountain biker. Departing from Leh the 480km ride will take you across some of the most spectacular mountain scenery in the world. This Trans Himalayan journey starts on the high Tibetan plateau, climbing and descending a series of the highest passes in the world with breath-taking views, isolated valleys and ancient villages. It then descends thousands of feet of switchbacks to the beautiful pine forest setting of Manali, on the southern slopes of the Indian Himalayas. The entire ride will be accompanied by a supply vehicle providing camping, food and
Mechanical support. The riders can travel light on their bikes while being provided the essential food and shelter for a ride in the Himalayan Mountain wilderness. A trained bike mechanic with all necessary tools and spare parts will keep everyone rolling after the inevitable puncture or breakdown over the rugged road. Each night’s camp will be set up by an experienced crew of Sherpas who will provide
the riders with deluxe tented accommodations as well as the nutritional meals necessary to keep everyone fueled for the ride. It’s the adventure of a lifetime!
Ladakh is situated above the Indus River at 3658m and is surrounded by the Karakoram and Zanskar mountain ranges. Providing some of the most spectacular mountain scenery anywhere in the world. Ladakh is known as Little Tibet – the people, terrain and culture of Ladakh are very similar to those of Tibet and Central Asia, and inhabitants of the eastern and central regions of Ladakh are of Tibetan origin. It is said that in Ladakh, a man sitting in the sun with his feet in the shade can suffer from sunstroke and frostbite at the same time!
