Overview
Sikkim is a state in India lying in the Himalayan foothills. This former kingdom is home to three major population groups-Lepcha, Bhutia and Nepali- providing a unique blend of ethnic groups, culture, religion and customs. Sikkim is a Shangri-La for lovers of adventure, trekking, mountaineering and mountain biking. It is home to Mount Kanchanjangha-the third highest peak in the world at 8586m, and Mount Sinolchu
a beautiful peak surrounded by fast- flowing rivers, that originate in the mountains and define the state’s boundaries. Sikkim has an abundance of animals, including the red panda, snow leopard and blue sheep. Some 600 to 1000 species of orchids and flowers add to the wonder of this country, rich with generous hospitality, smiling people and unforgettable friendliness
